How To Identify HP Part Numbers
Hewlett-Packard (HP) over the years has acquired many companies such as Digital, Compaq, EMC and others. In the process they have added several formats to their numbering system. Many of the conventions for part numbers are associated to the type of parts such as printer parts or server parts. In addition HP uses different formats for parts that are sold as standalone parts (Batteries, ac adapters, etc ) and internal components such as System Boards, brackets, etc. Also, HP uses different part numbers for sub assemblies or revisions to the same part. In many cases the part number describes the country for which the part has been design such as Keyboards (each language has a code) or the country of origin. New part numbers have also been used to replace non ROHS parts for ROHS complaint parts.
